2021年3月22日，西藏自治区林芝市加拉村色东普沟发生冰崩，导致雅鲁藏布江下游水位上涨十余米，对沿岸居民及交通线路构成很大威胁（图1）。该地区2018年10月曾连续发生两次大规模冰崩堵江事件，且存在继续发生堵江灾害的风险。
长（L）、宽（W）和长宽比（ε, L/W）是滑坡的三个基本几何参数。长宽比被认为可以反映滑坡的运动特征。然而，当前的测量方法并未有效考虑滑坡的运动路径，因此本质上只度量了“路径无关”的几何参数，无法用于滑坡运动特征分析。同时，当前存在众多不同的滑坡几何参数（长、宽、长宽比）定义，造成了广泛的分歧和混淆，因此急需梳理和建立滑坡几何参数的术语体系。
大型滑坡可导致重大人员伤亡与财产损失。非连续性结构广泛分布于自然界斜坡岩体之中。然而，对于非连续性结构在滑坡中，特别是在大型岩质滑坡中的作用，仍缺乏系统与综合的分析，造成长期以来的争议。
